A quick price guide for the Leica M6 (2022 reissue), currently for sale, user cameras, not collectables
A quick gut-check for any listing below — condition and accessories shift the line, so always read the listing. Special edition, special finish, and camera plus lens/accessory bundle pricing is not included in the fair price calculation.
The Leica M6 announced on 20 October 2022 (order code 10557) is a new camera that copies the 1984 M6 outside and updates it inside. It keeps the mechanical cloth-shutter body, the battery-free shutter, the rear ISO dial and the vulcanite-look covering, and it is finished in black paint over a brass top plate engraved with the old Leitz script logo. The changes are the finder and the meter: the 0.72x viewfinder is the MP-style unit with every optical surface coated, which cures the white-out flare the original M6 is known for, and the meter now shows correct exposure with a centre dot between the two arrows and warns on a low battery. It launched at $5,295, and Leica still builds it, so the used market for this camera sits against a new-camera price rather than against 1990s bodies.
