A quick price guide for the Leica R4s, currently for sale, user cameras, not collectables
A quick gut-check for any listing below — condition and accessories shift the line, so always read the listing. Special edition, special finish, and camera plus lens/accessory bundle pricing is not included in the fair price calculation.
The Leica R4s (1983-1987) is the value version of the R4: Leica removed the program and shutter-priority modes, leaving aperture-priority and full manual, and positioned it as the lower-cost entry to the R system. Mechanically and optically it is the same camera as the R4, built on the same Minolta-derived chassis with the same electronic shutter to 1/1000s and the same selective and integral TTL metering. A later R4s-2 (also called Mod.2) revision followed. If you never reach for program mode, the R4s gives up nothing over a full R4, which is why the two trade at nearly the same used price. It takes 2-cam and 3-cam R lenses.
