The Leica Ig, produced from 1957 to 1960, was the last of the finder-less screw-mount Leicas, built on the IIIg-generation body. Compared with the earlier If it regained slow speeds and adopted the IIIg's modern flash synchronization, while keeping the finder-less layout with no rangefinder or viewfinder and two accessory shoes; unlike the IIIg it has no self-timer. It uses the 39mm screw mount and has a 1/1000 top speed. Only about 5,968 were made, which makes the Ig the scarcest and most collectible of the finder-less I-series bodies. It appeals to collectors completing a screw-mount set and to users who want a late, slow-speed-capable technical body.
